Other attractions are the Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount, home of Edith Wharton, and Arrowhead, home of Herman Melville, as well as Chesterwood, home of the sculptor of the Lincoln Memorial.
Outdoor recreation opportunities include Butternut Basin ski resort, access to the Appalachian Trail and Monument Mountain. Umpachene Falls is just a mile away on the Konkapot river and has a natural swimming area. Egremont Country Club is in Great Barrington.
Great Barrington, voted the #1 best small town in America bySmithsonian Magazine in 2012, is 15 minutes away. It downtown features fine restaurants, antique shops, boutiques and also a performing arts theater and a triplex movie theater.
Mill River is 2 1/2 hours from New York City and Boston.
