If you’ve spent time with an old building — whether you’re restoring one, researching its past, or simply wondering about the hands that shaped its beams — you probably know how rare it is to find someone who wants to talk about the details that don’t fit into a listing sheet. I’ve been that person for a long time, and I still am.

This site is where I gather stories, practical knowledge, and the quieter questions that come with caring for historic houses. It’s not a business, and I don’t have a team. What I do have is a deep curiosity about how buildings were made, how they’ve changed, and what it takes to carry them forward with respect. If that resonates, I’d be glad to hear from you.

You’re welcome to reach out about:

  • A historic property you’re researching or trying to understand better
  • A restoration challenge you’re working through — I may not have the answer, but I often know where to look
  • A story from your own house or neighborhood that deserves a wider audience
  • A craftsman, conservator, or preservation project you think I should know about
  • Corrections, additions, or thoughtful disagreements with something you’ve read here

The best way to reach me is by email: [email protected]. I read everything that arrives, though I can’t always promise a quick reply. If you’re sharing a house history or a restoration story, a few photographs are always welcome — they often say what words can’t.

I don’t offer consulting services or property valuations, and I’m not looking for guest posts or link exchanges. But if you care about old buildings in a way that goes beyond the surface, I suspect we’ll have plenty to talk about.

Thank you for being here. I look forward to hearing what’s on your mind.
